For a bathroom, kitchen or entry, a tile quote should explain what supports the tile as well as what you see on top. Share your plans with Raleigh Flooring Contractors HQ.
Tell us the room and whether any floor damage is already visible.
Start with a sound base
Tile needs a substrate suited to the product and the room. Loose or damaged flooring underneath should be evaluated before a new tile surface is planned.
In a bathroom, ask how moisture protection is handled where needed. Tile and grout do not replace a properly specified water management system.
Movement, cracking or a soft area in the floor can change the work required. Explain those signs at the quote stage rather than leaving them until tile arrives.
See the layout before work begins
Tile size, pattern and grout choice change both appearance and labor. A careful layout avoids conspicuous thin cuts at a doorway or beside the vanity.
Larger tiles make flatness and edge alignment more noticeable. Ask how the installer will prepare the surface and choose setting materials for your tile and substrate.
Include the small finishing jobs
A complete estimate should cover demolition, waste removal, substrate preparation and transitions. Confirm how the finished height meets nearby flooring and doors.
Ask for the setting and grout products, plus the timing for walking, cleaning and returning fixtures. Cure times follow those products and site conditions, not a single rule for every bathroom.
Can new tile be laid over existing tile?
It may be possible where the existing surface is sound and the full assembly is suitable. Height, bonding, movement and the product instructions all need assessment first.
