Agree on responsibilities once the product and fitting method are chosen.

Confirm who moves what

Ask which furniture the installer will move and what must be cleared first. Empty shelves, remove fragile items and make a separate plan for valuables and electronics.

Appliances, plumbing connections and heavy specialty items may need another trade or arrangement. Confirm those tasks instead of assuming that basic fitting labor includes them.

Plan access through the house

Discuss material storage, the route to the room and protection for floors that are staying. Keep pets and children away from the active work area.

If you need to live in the home during the project, ask whether rooms can be staged. That may affect labor, transitions and how often furniture must move.

Flooring may need time in the home before fitting, depending on the product instructions. Ask where it should be stored and what room conditions must be maintained.

Know when the room is ready to use

Installation complete does not always mean ready for rugs or heavy furniture. Adhesives, grout and wood finishes have product specific requirements.

Get the care instructions and timing for using the room again in writing. Leave room in the schedule for any hidden base repairs discovered after old flooring comes out.

Can I put furniture back the same day?

It depends on the material and installation system. Ask for the instructions for your product before scheduling movers or returning heavy items.
